I was born in Oakland, California and grew up in Rockridge until I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. My love of music began at a young age. I remember sitting in my kitchen listening to my parent’s albums of Joe Zawinul, Bill Evans, and Carole King. When I was 7 years old, my parents enrolled me in piano lessons and I quickly discovered my passion for playing music. I played classical solo piano from then on through high school, where I also joined the jazz band. I learned how to play in ensemble settings and big bands. In addition, I was introduced to Jazz harmony and theory. In 2016 I was accepted into Berklee College of Music and graduated after building more piano skills, ear training abilities, and theory knowledge. I have been teaching piano and tutoring since graduating and it truly is my joy in life. The honor I feel to be able to be a part of someone’s musical journey is such a beautiful gift.

My philosophy as a teacher is to help inspire my students to find their own passion for music. I prioritize my students’ connection to the instrument as I believe this sets the foundation for a committed musician. My objective is to foster a space where my students feel comfortable making mistakes while exploring their own artistry and goals. In addition to building their proficiency on piano, I also incorporate ear training and music analysis into lessons. I want my students to understand the music beyond what is just written on the page. My overall goals are to help encourage students to be passionate, committed, and well-rounded.
