A Brief Q&A

  • Is my child too young to start piano?

I recommend that your child be at least 5 years of age before starting.

  • Do you provide the materials?

I require that all students have copies of the material so they can practice in their own home. I use a range of books, worksheets, and individual pieces. All books are available on Amazon. If a student is working on a specific piece, I will send a printable PDF.

  • How do you make Zoom lessons engaging?

Zoom can be tricky but I have navigated through its challenges and have created the most realistic lesson experience as possible. I have created various improvisation games, call and response exercises, and worksheets that can be catered to each individual student.

  • What levels of piano do you teach?

I teach all levels however I specialize in working with beginners.

  • Are you a strict teacher?

I expect diligent practice and I expect mistakes. How else do we learn? I want my students to feel comfortable in their learning experience, not scared.

  • What does a typical lesson look like?

All lessons follow the same format: check in, warm up, song/piece work and critique, and ear training. Of course this is just a general format, each lesson will be different.
